The history of television – England 1924
As an Englishman with an interest in English history I thought it would be interesting to recount the history of television and its invention by John Logie Baird at Ally Pally in London. The British Broadcasting Company began transmissions on 14 November 1922 daily, when more than one million of ten shillings (50p) has been issued. In 1927, the company was restructured as a public company, the BBC that we know today by its founding father, John (more later Lord) Reith, but this time an even newer technology has been developed television.
In truth, the Company was very interested in the television invented by John Logie Baird experiences and I wanted to continue under their sponsorship, and not under that of any other company. Accordingly, the company has offered the use Baird facilities on the south bank of London. In 1932, the BBC have been fortunate enough to enable the dissemination of regular testing. They are now available in the Baird studio at Newly acquired Portland Place, W1. BB Studio, Great Britain's first dedicated TV studio has been installed in the basement of Broadcasting House, and thence that Baird has continued to test and refine the new medium. The competition came from the electronic music and Industries (EMI), based in Hayes, Middlesex, where they had worked with the Marconi Company on the development of a high-definition.
In May 1934, the government UK has appointed a committee headed by Lord Selsdon, start investigating the viability of creating a public service television with recommendations about the conditions under which such a service could be offered. The report's findings were issued in Selsdon one Government White Paper in January the following year. The BBC has been given to the development of television, which was to convey a definition not less than 240 lines with a minimum of 25 frames per second. With the publication of this report, the era of low resolution picture cam to end year with ballerina Lydia Sokolova Being the last in Britain Artist To appear through the old 30-line system.
The committee proposed that the two new high definition systems (Baird Online 240 and Marconi-EMI 405 line) would be chosen for replacement transmissions by the BBC during a given period, until it was decided that was the best. Looking for a suitable site for the new service, the BBC has chosen Alexandra Palace in Haringey, Greater London. Its position on a hill was the place to install a transmitter that would cover all of London and many of its surrounding counties.
"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. It is with great pleasure that I present to you the magic of television … "
With those words Leslie Mitchell has introduced Britain's first television program in high definition large public Radiolympia. The date was August 26, 1936. It was in the world the first broadcast television. At the beginning of the war in 1939 over 80,000 spectators was watching television seven days a week.
During September 1st 1939 and Mickey Mouse was shown on television, television has become all white and went to the air. This program returned in 1946 and BBC Television and radio went from strength to strength.

My family tree has been traced back to the early Kings of England from the 7th Century AD. I am also a direct descendent of Sir Christopher Wren which has given me an interest in English History which is great fun to research. My articles are all about my interests in English History that the world will be amazed at. For example: The first manned flight was in England in 1849 and the first passenger vehicle was invented in England in 1801.
